Epping, NSW
This week we look at Epping which is 18 km north-west of Sydney.. This is a suburb worth watching for those interested in the link between demographics, public transport and rising property values. The train station will soon become a junction for the Epping to Chatswood line, which is currently under construction. And statistics say Epping is the most affluent suburb in its region and has almost double the amount of professionals residing there than the Sydney average.
The name Epping is from Epping Forest in England and came about after there was some argey-bargey about place names at the end of 1800s.
RP Data says that last quarter 184 houses were sold for a median price of $822,300, fetching a quarterly growth of 11%. 157 units were sold, for the median price of $439,999 with a 12 month growth of 8.3%. The weekly median rent for units is $340 and $460 for houses

The weekly median rent for units is $340 and $460 for houses Lota – QLD This week we flyover an outer suburb of Brisbane, 17 km east of CBD to Lota. Lota is probably not the first bayside suburb you think of, but for families looking for decent sized blocks and access to Moreton Bay, it’s a secret they’re happy to keep. Lota is next to Manly and Wynnum and enjoys the same attractions - such as the Manly Boat Harbour, Wynnum Wading Pool, Wynnum Pier, fish and chip shops, restaurants, pubs and shopping centres. The land was subdivided in the 20th century, but before that it was farmed for cane, cattle and even vineyards.
The area was originally settled by William Duckett White and was named after his still-existing house 'Lota House'. Lota stands alone houses account for 92% of all dwellings in this area, with townhouses making up another 5%. RP Data reports that last quarter 84 houses were sold for a median price of $528,100. This is a 12 month growth of 18.3%. Rental properties fetch a median of $355 a week.
